Meet Dominic LeBlanc

First elected in 2000, and re-elected four times since, The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc has proudly represented the riding of Beauséjour for 14 years. He is currently serving as the Government House Leader as well as the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Before entering politics, Mr. LeBlanc earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Law from the University of New Brunswick, and a Masters from Harvard Law School. He then worked as a lawyer with Clark Drummie in Shediac and Moncton, New Brunswick, before becoming a Special Advisor to former Prime Minister Chretien in 1993.

Since his first election to the House of Commons, Mr. Leblanc has gained a well-rounded, extensive experience on the Hill. He has served as the Chair of the Atlantic Caucus, Official Opposition Critic for International Trade, Liberal Defense Critic, Deputy Chief Government Whip and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defense.

Dominic is a proud Acadian and is married to Jolène Richard, a Judge of the Provincial Court of New Brunswick.
